Tournament time!

Today was JJ's tournament, his final games of the season. We're so proud of him! He got a medal after the games were over. He played 3 tournament games, each one 12 minutes long. Today, he made several very good passes, and he scored 5 goals!! His team actually scored a total of 7 goals altogether in the tournament, and JJ scored 5 of them! How cool is that? He's really good...so good, in fact, that he may play on the next level up next season.

So, things that JJ needs to work on are: being more aggressive (get in there and take that puck away from the other team!), skating backwards so he can play defense, stick handling, and getting better at stopping (doing a "hockey stop"). He's been practicing skating backwards, and he's getting better on it. He's also getting really good at stopping; he just has a little ways to go.

Can't wait for next season!! In the meantime...final memories of this season...

JJ played good today! He made a goal, skated hard, made some good defensive moves, and we were very proud of him. One thing that Jeremy noticed is that JJ always says things to make the coaches laugh. He's getting pretty good at skating backwards, but he still needs to work on stopping. This was his last game before the tournaments this coming weekend.

During the first intermission, JJ's hockey league got to go on the ice and play a mini-game. He was a little nervous before it started, but he did very well! He tried several times to make a goal. One time, the puck hit the post. Another time, it almost made it in (came so close!). This is just the start of his hockey career. JJ, you did great! We're very proud of you.

JJ played very well today! He made several great defensive moves. It was a good game. JJ got a little frustrated, though, because one of his team-mates kept getting the puck but wouldn't pass it when JJ was open and in position to make a goal. He got tripped twice by a player on the other team. That same player also tripped other guys. Daddy and Grandaddy told JJ to get more aggressive, and if another player does something like that again, he needs to do something about it (in a subtle way, of course, so the ref won't see it!).
