Huntsville AL games

Jeremy and JJ traveled to Alabama this weekend for practice on Saturday and then two games on Sunday. Being on the travel team means that JJ has a dress code now! He had to wear a white shirt with khaki pants.

Today (Sunday), they played two games. In the first game, they lost 8-2. Jeremy said that "the other team is really good". They lost the second game, too. The score was 11-0. JJ didn't score any goals this time (but he usually does, so the other team must have been very good).

There will be days like this and games like these two, so I hope JJ learns to accept it and move on, and just play all that much harder the next time.

Just a comment: Memphis doesn't have an ice rink, so they don't get ice time as much as other teams. Maybe one of these days, Memphis will wise up and build an ice rink instead of putting all of their money into basketball...ya think?

We're proud of you anyway, JJ, and we hope that you had a good time.

It's almost here!

It isn't long before the new hockey season will be here! Jeremy and JJ went to the 2010 MYHL Hockey Expo over the weekend, and this coming weekend, they're supposed to travel to Alabama for some games.

Just found out that on October 16th, JJ's team will play during intermission at the Riverkings game.

Bring it on!

Practice in Little Rock

JJ has practice in Little Rock today with his travel team, the Memphis Blues. It seems that being on this travel team is going to mean that he travels alot, even for practice, not just games. It's good experience for him and he seems to be enjoying it.

Have a great practice, JJ! Safe travels!

...Update: Practice got cancelled because the zamboni broke! Can't have ice hockey without a zamboni!

JJ has travel team tryouts this weekend in Decatur AL and a hockey clinic during the week in Huntsville AL (both ice hockey). Then, he'll travel to Jackson, TN for a roller hockey tournament. I know he'll do great in all of them! We're proud of you, JJ! You're still a hockey star!

...Update: The tournament was cancelled due to not enough players available, but JJ had a good week. Not only did he do well in the tryouts and clinic, but they were able to fit in a visit to a water park. Fun, fun, fun!

5/16/10 roller hockey FINAL

Championship game: They lost 4-3 but it was a close game! JJ scored all 3 goals for his team. He scored the first and second goals unassisted, and scored the third goal with an assist from his teammate.

Everyone received a trophy. JJ also earned MVP (Most Valuable Player) for his team, the Vipers! On top of that, he earned another trophy for Points Leader for the league, making a total of 26 goals and 6 assists for the season. We're so very proud of you, JJ.

Updating...

It's been a little while since I've updated this blog, but I'm going through pictures and notes now. Blog posts to come very soon! In the meantime...

JJ has done very well in his games! He's a hockey superstar, making goals, assisting, helping others to make goals...In fact, in a recent roller hockey game, JJ helped a teammate make his very first hockey goal ever! Now, that's sportsmanship and being a team player!

JJ, Mammaw is so very proud of you. Your hockey career is off to a great start, you're a smart, talented, loving 9 year old and I love you very much.

5/2/10 games

JJ played two games today. We weren't able to go, so no pictures available, but here's the scoop...

Game #1: WIN! Final score was 6-4. JJ scored goals 2-6, so he scored 5 of the 6 goals! Yay!

Game #2: Loss, unfortunately. Final score was 4-2. JJ scored the first goal, and assisted with the second one.

We're proud of you, JJ!
